6) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I used many different technologies while doing this opening thriller, I have shown all of them below.
I used (not in order of use):
1) Sony HVR-A1E, I used this to film all of my footage.
2) Garage Band, I used this to make my music.
3) Adobe Soundbooth CS5, I used this to further enhance my music.
4) Youtube, I used this to upload my videos.
5) Final Cut Express, I used this to edit all of my footage together and all animations (production logo, distributor logo and all credits).
6) After Effects, I used this to create the production logo, distributor logo and all credits.
7)Photoshop, I used this to create images that were used on my blog.
8) Soundcloud, I used this to put my music online database so it can be accessed from anywhere and also to put it on my blog.
9) Blogger, I used this to all my work on here to show my work.
10) Microsoft Office 2010, I used to this to create my write-up work and presentations.
11) Tripod, I used this to make sure that all my shots were not moving and had a good framing of the scene while in the production.
12) Scribd, I used this to put up my written work online.

5) How did you attract/address your audience?
I think I have reached my target audience, this is because all of my "test" audience were quite pleased with it and wanted to see more. Here are some of the feedback I got:
"I think it was really tense and capturing. It could have been quicker but overall it was good." - Jonathan Marwick
"I would love to see the rest of it!" - Stacy Daniel
I think they reacted this way because of how it was started and ended in the opening thriller. They immediately caught attention of the screen when the piano started and found that interesting, I think in a way it just separated the opening logos to the actual footage and opening credits.
I thought that the most important part of my production had to be the music as this was the part that would keep the audience's attention, at that time I decided not to have any dialogue because my research showed that in thriller film openings there wasn't any dialogue. The music played a big part in the opening.
I think my thriller was quite technical in terms of shots chosen and the way that the opening represented itself, in terms of organisation of the opening it was "good, nothing to criticize" (- Raj Patel) about it.
The less successful parts of my opening thriller were that there were some shots felt too long, for example when he was walking down towards the bridge and there were some that could have been snappier, like for instance when the character came up to the camera out of breath, these also the part that could have been improved.
What I also did was that I made the night shot in a letter-box format and the day shot in full day. None my of audience members noticed this, but I did this effect to show that there was a change of time and that the night time was insignificant at that moment, and the day shot was full screen as this would be important.
I also did a "pan" of the city road to show show it is, I did this because my research showed this was quite relevant to what I had to do and that this would set the dynamics of what the audience should expect. By doing this you would get a better positive vibe and understanding of the film when it starts the story.

My Thriller Opening
Narrative
The establishing shot of my opening shows that it is a busy and running systemic city and not a rural city that has been deprived of human life that is usually considered when watching a thriller but mine is different as it is based on crime and how the youth are represented and how they are in real life gangs (with obviously a little cinematic charm to it).
Genre
My opening shows that it is a thriller as it as the classic long shots that create suspense and this picks up the tension. You can also tell by the way the music sounds - it is slow, deep and effective that at specific points picks up the tempo.
Camera, Angle, Shot Movement and Position
The angles that were used were mostly were eye angled, low angle and they were point of view shots, over the shoulder, long shots, medium shots. They were mostly still movements, there was a pan and a dolly

Continuity & Editing
My opening thrillers continuity was quite good as it followed the character and made sense while it did show what was happening around him. In the editing I used cuts, I didn't use any transitions. Where it may seem as I have where the the opening credits come on, but this has been done in Adobe After Effects CS5

For the sound I put in a soundtrack. My music was running for the whole duration of the opening sequence. Though in frame 6 I put in a mobile's ring tone for the message that the character received. I also lowered (not removed) the real sound from that clip of when he was sitting down and the cars were passing by.
Mise-En-Scene/Expressionism
I didn't edit any of the lighting or colour with the footage. This is because the footage that I had was perfect already for the mood I was setting, I wanted to show that it was a normal day but it is slightly different for this individual.
Typography
The type of text that I used was Times New Roman, I used this because it was setting the mood as serious and had a very subtle effect on the audience, I also used a glow behind the text to illuminant it and make it stand out.

I have chosen to use the teenage character as my icon for this film. This is because he is the main actor and he will be the main story and of what happens to him though it will include others as well.
Enigma Code
The enigma code is kept in the mobile phone's text message. This is because it sets the story and creates a mystery for the audience and will make them want to watch it more.

- Green Zone (Frame 1,2 and 3)
1) It has the same style in which my production logo came in as this is based on a circle in this case the Earth and in mine a red light that makes the text in front of it to stand out.
2) This is similar to my shot of the trains as this is capturing something moving. In this case it shows that the bullet is moving to a person and in mine it shows that the train is fast and it is scheduled to be somewhere at a certain time.
3) In this frame it is similar to my over the shoulder frame as well, except in this frame the camera movement is none while in mine was dolly.
- Leon The Professional (Frame 4, 5 and 6)
4) This is similar to my shot of the character walking down towards the bridge. The difference is that in this frame is that the camera tilts towards the man standing while mine is in one position and the character moves.
5) This shot is completely opposite of my shot where I look at the vehicles instead. This frame follows one object while in my shot it watches all the vehicles pass by.
6) This shot is very similar to my shot where my character is out of breath and it is a low angle shot. The only difference is that the angle of this shot is eye level but they are both point of view shots.
- Lord Of War (Frame 7, 8 and 9)
7) This production logo is similar to my distributors logo animation. This is because I has the same quick framing as mine and it allows you to see if easily.
8) This frame is very similar to my credits framing's, the only difference is that mine has glow in the background and this frame doesn't.
9) This frame has similarities and differences to my framing (the one of the train and vehicles going by with the ambulance), the similarity is that is shows the city and it is on the road and the difference is that in this frame the camera moves over the road with the credits and mine watches the vehicles going by and then there will be a next frame of the credits.

Character Profile
My character is a organised crime gang member. He is dressed so that he blends in and is not noticed as much as others in the public.
On the upper body he is wearing a hoodie (a jacket with a hood) and a white shirt. He wears this as this blends in with the general public as this doesn't standout.
He wears a watch, which connotes that he has money to buy expensive materials to wear.
He is wearing trainers which is quite common in everyday life so this blends in, but because the colour of the trainers are white this stands out. This means that the character likes to show of.
He is wearing black jeans. This is subtle but still in style, this keeps the low attention but still looks good.

Editing
I have started my editing on a program called "Final Cut Express". I did my editing on 19Th November 2010, this was during class.
FIlm Shoot
I did my film shoot on 14Th November 2010 and 9Th November 2010. The picture below are from 14Th November 2010. I did my film shoot in the Crystal Palace and South Norwood area.
Production Logo Animation
I used a software called "Adobe After Effects" which allowed me to create my animated production logo. Below are screen-shots of me creating it.
Music
This is my first attempt on making my background music. I used Garage Band, on the Macintosh computer. I made this on the 12Th November 2010.
Update 26/11/2010
I slightly changed the sound track using the program Garage Band. I did this so that I could more in tune with my Opening Thriller.

Film Shoot
I had a film shoot on Tuesday 9th November 2010. It was around the Norwood Junction area, looking at the urban features and recording them.

Character, Props, Location Research
My main character will be Christopher Sziranyi (no picture at the moment). He will be the Hood (gang) Leader in which he has lots of connections across the whole city. He also likes to get he's hands dirty and as such he does some of the "dirty" work as well. There will be many other annonymous characters as well but the main story will hang on one specific death that catches everyone in the "game".
Props that I will be using will be a baseball bat and mobile phones. The opening of the film is intense and dramatic while still it is dramatic.
The locations that I have chosen are:

- A estate
- A long path way with over head walk.
- A remote area with lots of trees and nature but still on the pathway.
- A busy road with lots of traffic
- A quiet road with few people walking by, and a few cars going past.
These are the locations where I will be shooting at, they will vary on the timings as the right lighting is also important.
Audience Research
This film will be certificated at 15 because it will have violence & gore, profanity, alcohol/drugs/smoking and frightening/intense scenes. This is similar to my inspiration which were The Wire, Kidulthood and Adulthood.My film will be aimed at older teenagers from the ages of 15-21+ (meaning that it will be aimed at 15-21 but the + shows that there could be interest in this film for older people, up to the age of 25. Need not to say that anyone over 25 can't watch it - just saying :-)... ). It will incorporate what is happening now in the current social environment in London.
It will be mostly aimed at the male audience rather than female. This is because the film will have violent scenes in it that females would rather not watch, this also depends on the person and their likes and dislikes but the majority of males like to see some sort of violence or action in a film they watch.
This film will be in English and will be aimed at the UK and America, this is because it incorporates a lot of what is happening now in London but also shows what is happening in the USA.
The most likely of people that would watch my film, would be from ages 15-19 and 20-25, as it shows really the similar interests of what is happening (could potentially be around them), but as a film normally is, it is slightly over exaggerated (though this is not really felt while watching it).
